About

Wije Hermesdorf (Nijmegen, The Netherlands, 1999) brings traditional craft into dialogue with contemporary form and practice. Inspired by historical techniques, he reinterprets these elements within a modern and minimalist visual language.

His practice is characterized by geometry, precision, and refinement. Influenced by constructivism, he reduces form to its essence, where structure and function dictate the aesthetic. Imperfections are carefully minimized, while the presence of the maker’s hand remains visible.

Rooted in goldsmithing and construction work, he approaches the making process as a form of connection, searching for the most functional and efficient solutions in both construction and form.

Through his work, he not only creates objects but also contributes to preserving and reviving artisanal traditions that are slowly vanishing.
